Superintendent Michael Johnson
A Visionary Leader, Faithful Servant, and Man of God

Superintendent Michael Johnson is the Founding Pastor of Agape Church of God in Christ in Killeen, Texas, where he has served with distinction since its founding on January 16, 2002. A native of Dallas, Texas, Supt. Johnson is the eldest of five sons born to the late Woodrow and Elzoria Johnson. He is a proud graduate of W.H. Adamson High School(Class of 1977). He furthered his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts from Panhandle State University and a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from The University of Central Texas.

Before transitioning into full-time ministry, Supt. Johnson enjoyed a rewarding career with On cor Electric Delivery(formerly TXU), where he served faithfully as a Project Manager and Senior Designer for 36 years, 8 months, and 16 hours. He officially retired on June 7, 2018, leaving a legacy of commitment and excellence.

Supt. Johnson has been married to Lady Ella Johnson since November 20, 1982. Together, they have raised two accomplished daughters: Colesha and Michelle. As a dynamic ministry team, Supt. and Lady Johnson have faithfully served the body of Christ for decades.

Supt. Johnson began his ministry at Zion Temple Church of God in Christ, where he served for 17 years. He was ordained a Deacon on September 14, 1986, under the leadership of Pastor Edward R. Billie. He answered the call to preach on July 7, 1991, under Bishop A.L. Thomas, and later graduated from the Texas Southeast Jurisdictional School of Ministry. On July 25, 1998, he was ordained an Elder and went on to serve as an instructor at the School of Ministry for five years.

Obeying the leading of the Lord, Supt. Johnson founded Agape Church of God in Christ in 2002 and was officially appointed Pastor on April 19, 2002, by Bishop A.L. Thomas. In 2004, he transitioned into the Texas Southwest Jurisdiction under the leadership of Bishop S.E. Iglehart, where he served as Jurisdictional Chaplain. On February 9, 2017, he was installed as Superintendent of the Greater Waco District, and in 2021, he was appointed Administrative Assistant to the Prelate of Texas Southwest 2nd, Bishop Shelton C. Rhodes.

A man of great faith, integrity, and spiritual authority, Supt. Johnson is richly anointed to preach and teach the Word of God. His visionary leadership led to the purchase and full payment of 10 acres of land, the construction of Agape’s sanctuary (completed in 2015), and the addition of a 500-seat fellowship hall in June 2021. In 2022, he launched the Agape Community Development Corporation Resource Center, and on August 10, 2025, he founded the Agape Community Housing Development Organization, LLC—a true testament to his faith-driven community impact.

Supt. Johnson leads by example and serves with humility and strength. In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, he is actively involved in Prison Ministry, the Brotherhood Department, and the Creative Witnessing Team at Agape. His heart’s desire is to see individuals walk in their God-ordained purpose and fulfill their destiny by faith.
